SPC began formulating epoxies in 1989 with the development of SP-2888® RG Brush and Spray Grade. After extensive testing, it was approved for use in 1990 by a major Canadian pipeline company and used on girth welds replacing a competitor’s epoxy that was difficult to apply in a single coat to the specified thickness.
Over the next few years, it gained wider acceptance throughout North America for the coating of girth welds and for the coating of valves, fittings, and headers. This single coat system that could high-build to 60 mils simplified field coating application.
Extensive independent testing by pipeline companies, in the 1990s, verified the initial claims by SPC that SP-2888® RG performed as well as or better than the Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE). In the late 1990s, SP-2888® RG was used as a rehabilitation coating on a large gas transmission pipeline in North America. Since, Specialty Polymer Coatings has a myriad of coating systems which are utilized extensively in the pipeline industry, on railway cars, lining for tanks and sewage digesters, on steel structures, marine docks and ship applications. Manufactured to the highest quality standards, SPC’s performance coating products are available in a number of configurations to accommodate various project applications.
As SPC has grown, so has the scope of our coating and linings solutions. We continue focusing on uniquely tailored coating systems for internal pipe and tank linings as well as expanding to markets outside of Oil & Gas. Today SPC has evolved from being a small Canadian company to a worldwide leader in 100% solids liquid coating technology with a client base that spans the globe.
SPC has corporate offices in Delta, BC and Houston, TX plus a world wide network of agents and distributors.
Specialty Polymer Coatings is committed to providing protective coatings with its blend of research, superior products and technical support.
SPC is dedicated to producing quality anti-corrosion coatings for pipeline, industrial, tank and marine applications while providing superior client services from the time of project inception to completion.
Through extensive research and development programs at our company laboratory, SPC continues to produce state-of-the-art, 100% solids, no VOCs, liquid epoxy and polyurethane coatings.
Our goal to improve the standard for corrosion and abrasion coatings for the pipeline industry has not wavered, but expanded. Holding to our core values we are small enough to care and big enough to deliver.
